Loss is something we will all face at sometime in our lives. This may because of the death of someone close to us, or it may be because of other circumstances such as the loss of a pet, our health or home.
People experience grief so differently and at different stages of their bereavement – but the intensity of feelings can be overwhelming and sometimes difficult to cope with without support. Emotions are often conflicting – Loneliness but a wish to be alone, loss but a sense of relief, guilt but also anger.
Coming to terms with a loss is a gradual process, and like all healing, it takes time. There are likely to be days when you feel you are moving through the pain and others when you reach the depths of despair again.
The Bereavement Support Group is an informal meeting point for people who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one.
All are welcome who feel they might benefit.
Members of the group may provide each other with support and perhaps practical tips for dealing with the conflicting feelings and daily situations of bereavement
Some find comfort from simply being with other people who they feel may really understand their experience and feelings.
There is no formal structure to the group and people may come and go as they need. The group is supported by volunteers who themselves have experienced a major bereavement.
